The celebration of two grand musical anniversaries is held this year. First of all, it is 175 year anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s birth. Different cultural events in honor to this anniversary were held all over the country. However, the 2015th year is remarkable not only because of Tchaikovsky’s anniversary, but also because of Jean Sibelius’s anniversary, the greatest Finnish composer.
Such coincidence couldn’t stay unnoticed. Therefore, the stars of music and poetry festival «Towards Vyborg», had a dash at creation a special program that unites the work of two brightest composers. According to the authors of the festival, chamber and vocal music of classics absolutely organically coexists and is mutually supplemented.
The festival unites not only the culture of Russia and Finland, but their territory as well. The musical event is annually held at the end of August on the coast of the Gulf of Finland from Sestroretsk to Vyborg. The audience and critics have already liked The «Sebelius 150 – 175 Tchaikovsky» program during the concerts in Zelenogorsk and Alvar Aalto Library in Vyborg. Both representations, including rarely performed works for cello and piano by Sibelius, as well as songs and duets by Tchaikovsky, went over with great success.
You will be able to get acquainted with the works of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, as well as to enjoy the masterpieces of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky on December 5, 2015 in the town of Kotka (Finland).
