The Russian Orthodox Church is concerned about the infringement of the rights of parents

Русская Православная Церковь обеспокоена ущемлением прав родителей

The Patriarchal Commission on family matters, protection of motherhood and childhood in its statement warns that the new version of article 116 of the criminal code (the “Law prohibiting education”) from 21.06.2016 may lead to criminal prosecution of conscientious parents. It has been adopted by the state Duma, the Federation Council approved and is to be signed by the President of the Russian Federation.

According to the law, imprisonment of parents can be up to 2 years. However, other people for the same actions in relation to such are not liable.

In the Commission’s view, such a law is one of the attempts to infringe on the rights of parents to raise their children. Such an attempt is connected with the introduction of anti-family ideologies, satanic in essence.
