The Russian government imposes restrictions on procurement of imported food

Вводятся ограничения на госзакупки продуктов питания

Starting from 03 September 2016, state, municipal and budgetary establishments of Russia will not be able to purchase imported food products in sufficient quantity produced in Russia and the EAEU member-States (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan). If the tender submitted 2 applications from the Russian or allied supplier, the import proposals are rejected.

Limits apply to fish and fish products, meat (beef, veal, pork, poultry), dairy products, rice, sugar, salt and other products (total 23 items).

The Russian government approved the Decree № 832 dated 22 August 2016, the draft of which was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, “On the limitations of tolerance of certain types of food products originating from foreign States for the purposes of procurement for state and municipal needs”.
