Subaru plans to keep sales at the level of 2016 in Russia and Belarus

According to the press-office of Subaru Motor, in spite of general auto market drop in Russia and Belorussia in 2016, the company exceeded earlier sales plans by 4.1% and sold 5’728 vehicles. The most popular model is Subaru Forester, which takes 4’025 of total sales (70.3%). It is necessary to mention, that the company decreased sales by 18.3% comparing to 2015, when in Russia and Belorussia 7’008 Subaru units were sold.

According to Yoshiki Kishimoto, Director General of Subaru Motor, the volume of the auto market in 2017 will remain at approximately the same level. In this regard, short-term strategy of the distributor is to maintain its position in the market and to improve the internal processes of the company. In the plans of Subaru Motor in 2017 is to sell 5’800 cars (+1.3%).

In 2017, the company’s model range in Russia and Belarus will remain the same – crossovers Forester, XV, Outback sports sedan WRX STI. However, some changes to the machine will be implemented. All models will be certified by ERA-GLONASS, as required by the new technical regulations of the Eurasian economic Union. In addition, in the second half of 2017, the new, second-generation compact crossover XV will be launched. The mentioned car is sold on the Russian market since 2012 and the last year it was restyling. Detailed information about the new product is not yet been presented, only a concept of future vehicle.

In the coming days at the Tokyo motor show Subaru will present a conceptual models BRZ STI Concept Sport, S4 WRX STI Sport sedan and Impreza STI. However, expect that any of these models will not appear in Russia. As explained to the magazine “E-Vesti” in the press service of Subaru Motor, the Motor show has international status but all new products are focused on the Japanese market.
