Russian media: shuffle of top state managers, stabilization of oil prices and climate taxes

The main themes of Russian media were: the story of the canceled Putin’s visit to Paris and stopped sales and production of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone due to the spontaneous combustion. At the same time, our attention was drawn to the following important topics:

Meeting of presidents V. Putin and R. Erdogan outlined the improvements in economic relations between countries: a gradual lifting of sanctions against Turkey (permitted import of citrus and other fruits, next week it is expected to lifting the ban on zucchini and eggplant); expanding the list of Russian companies, which may employ Turkish workers; signed an agreement on the construction of “Turkish Stream”.

According to the forecast of the Central Bank, Russian economic (GDP) will grow by +0.1-0.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 year. Prerequisites for optimism were the growth of imports of machinery and equipment by +12.7% and growth of agriculture by +6.0% in August 2016.

Deputy Prime Minister A. Dvorkovich said that Russia will introduce criminal liability for involvement in doping (prohibited substances taken by athletes to improve their performance) and for the distribution of doping. In addition, measures will be taken to implement an effective and independent anti-doping control.

According to V. Poznihir from General staff of Russia, the reassessment of US Missile Defense System showed greater danger than previously thought. MDS missiles can hit our intercontinental missiles in the most vulnerable – in early launch phase, which significantly changes the balance of power, and allows America to carry out with impunity a disarming and decapitation strikes on Russia and China. Moscow and Beijing have already agreed on appropriate actions.
